McDaniel Service, LLC Dredging and shoreline improvements

Dredging is an integral part of waterfront property maintenance, particularly if the property has a dock or boathouse structure. Dredging to manage water depths ensures that your structures can continue to serve their intended purpose throughout the years.
Depending on the lake location, water levels can fluctuate for summer pool or winter pool due to dam activities, flooding, and drought. Dredging is always beneficial, but it is most obvious when water levels are low and the results of dredging can be seen from shore.
Our 20’x70’ barge provides a self-contained workspace for the handling of material at the job site. This vessel maintains a relatively shallow draft, even while fully loaded. This barge has been fitted with a pilot house for safe steering, even in inclement weather. It is equipped with a hydraulic propulsion thruster, outboard motor, dual spud anchors, and bow thruster system, making this barge capable of precise maneuvering around the job site.
Boathouse walls and roofs limit the flexibility of reach for any equipment. We have developed and constructed a set of extension rakes that allow us to reach much further inside covered boat slips than the structures normally allow.
McDaniel Service, LLC is licensed and insured to work at commercial facilities. We have decades of experience in the barge and towboat industry.
Erosion can endanger paving, electrical lines, and structures. Erosion can be prevented or even stopped with the application of large rip rap stones.
We have the capability, experience, and equipment to plan any rip rap project and place shoreline rock with careful attention to detail and consideration for future stability.
Peninsulas or points of land that jut out toward deeper waters tend to receive the most abuse from waves and currents. Reinforcing shorelines and seawalls with rip rap will lengthen the life of the property that is vulnerable to eroding.
Sloughs act as the catch pans of the river. Plant debris, logs, and trash are carried by river currents until they are pushed into an area that doesn’t have an outlet. Over time these amassed debris fields can become impacted in sloughs, making the waters unusable for recreation or navigation. Our solution is to pickup all the debris with the excavator, place the trash and logs into our barge box, and take it all away for disposal.
When logs fall into the river, they tend to float along until they are caught in a slough or structure. Then, as the wood becomes waterlogged, they sink, settling together in a lattice work of heavy wood that forms a trap for more debris. Once logs have drifted in, the debris problem will only grow worse with time.
Once material has been dredged or debris has been picked up and the barge box is full, the next step is to unload the material and dispose of it properly. After the barge box has been filled at the job site, the barge is then driven to a dock, boat ramp, or transload facility. The excavator is then used to transfer the material in the barge box into the bed of the dumptruck, and the material is then transported to the nearest approved spoils site.
